"I interviewed over a half dozen different breeders around the country, before I decided to adopt Rommel from Nancy Hanson at Von Z-Max Rottweilers. I will honestly say that she was the most professional, the most caring, and most informative person I spoke with about what I was looking for in a Rottweiler puppy. She took the time to answer all of the questions I had at every turn. She also interviewed me as much as I interviewed her about what kind of a person I was, what my resources were and ability was to take care of one of her puppies. It was a two way interview to see if I met certain standards as much as I was checking the standards I was looking for and she matched my standards up perfectly. Nancy, just doesn't breed and sell dogs to anyone. She cares about her dogs and their new owners. She wants the dogs to be as happy as the owners, and that says a lot about her character and integrity. Nancy offered to be available at any time day or night with questions after Rommel arrived, and she was true to her word. I took her up on it when I called her at 8am Eastern my time, or 5am Pacific her time, to ask questions about Rommel's vaccinations and paperwork the first day I took Rommel to the vet two days after he arrived. Rommel was healthy and happy when he arrived and one of the most handsome dogs I have ever seen and verified by every person, veterinarian, vet tech that had a chance to see Rommel. Not only was he a handsome Rottweiler, but he was a very handsome dog in general and I receive more compliments from people that are familiar with the Rottweiler standards, including other Rottweiler owners, as well as people who are not. Everyone agrees that Rommel's looks, his temperament, and his personality are the best they had every seen in a dog breed.  All of this and more are why I chose to go to the other side of the country to find and adopt Rommel from Von Z-Max. Rommel not only met my expectations but went well beyond my expectations. If I decide to buy another Rottweiler, I will definitely choose Nancy Hanson at Von Z-Max Rottweilers.

Thank you so much Nancy. You, Maik and Lira did a wonderful job!!!

Hello,
I just wanted to send you an update on our Gus (aka Quak). He has been such a joy to our family. He is great with the kids and is so patient with their antics. He loves to play ball and also recently has fallen in love with his Cuz toy. He has been to the nursing home once for a therapy visit and did awesome with the elderly. I think he will do very well with a therapy career. He has been through a few obedience classes but has recently decided to be a retard around some dogs... we will be working with this small detail and hopefully overcome it. He is such a goofball most of the time I can’t help but smile when he is near. I have been blessed to be able to quit my job and this will give me more time to work with Gus He is so good with his obedience most of his downfall is the fault of me not working more with him. I want to try an agility class with him in the spring to see if he will do well in that area as I have grown an interest. Thank you for this wonderful dog!!!
Take care,
Norma Seal

P.S. I have enclosed a holiday picture of my dogs….Gus is the big guy in the middle!

In 2004, I found myself in the position of adding another Rottie to my own house. Not for a second did I even think of calling anyone but Nancy.

I had some very special temperament traits that I was looking for that are actually more common in Malinois than in a Rottweiler, but Nancy said she’d keep her eyes open and let me know if she happened to have a pup with those qualities. She even offered to let me know if there was another breeder she knew and trusted that produced such a pup.

March 2005 Nancy called to say she just might have the right girl for me. Boy was she right! Nancy did it again! Petra is exactly what I asked for and then some! Drive, Drive, Drive, and a little working dynamo! This picture was taken  when Petra was only 14 months old!

October of 2006 PJ, Jim, and I had the pleasure of visiting Nancy and all of her beautiful dogs for almost a week. I can truly say that I have never known anyone to be so completely dedicated to the Rottweiler breed and to her own dogs in particular. From early morning til late at night, and sometimes in the middle of the night, Nancy works very hard to make sure each and every dog has what they need to thrive. It’s no mystery why von Z-Max puppies are so easy to house train! Nancy keeps them so clean they want to stay that way for life. I had the honor of helping with the puppy/owner selections for the W litter and experienced first hand how Nancy’s intuition and experienced eye matches the right pup with the right home. We were SO tempted to take one of those gorgeous pups home with us but with the busy working careers of Max and Petra, we realized it would be better to wait. When we are ready, we’ll definitely trust Nancy to choose the next chapter in our love of Rottweilers!

I highly recommend anyone planning to add a quality Rottweiler to their family to look around and send inquiries to other breeders.... THEN call Nancy. You’ll appreciate her and her wonderful dogs even more that way!

Sincerely, Christy Floor and Petra von Z-Max, starting her working career soon, Stay tuned!

I am honored to be asked to provide a testimonial for Von Z-Max Rottweilers.

In early 2003 I began a search for a reputable Rottweiler breeder as my good friends PJ and Jim Thayer had lost their beloved Rotties to cancer and asked me to help find them a new love.

Let me tell you that search was full of disappointments at every turn. The majority of breeders I found were only concerned with how much money we wanted to spend and didn’t seem to care where their puppies were going. I found no one I felt comfortable with until one of my students sent me Nancy’s information. The very first time I talked to her, I was amazed by her knowledge, her love for her dogs, and her honesty.

I described what they were looking for in a pup and it just so happened that she had a little boy that she was sure would fit into PJ and Jim’s home as a great companion. Well, the puppy she sent turned out to be so much more! Not only is he a loving, stable, sweet, gentleman, but he has turned out to be one amazing working dog too. Maximus is a prime example that the Mission Statement of Von Z-Max Rottweilers is being fulfilled.

A true companion in the best sense of the term! When PJ’s elderly father came to live with them, Max just knew to be extra gentle with him and the cat he brought with him! Later, when “Grandpa” had to live in an assisted living center, Maximus became a welcome visitor at the center and his gentle visits were a high point for all of the patients there.

Excel at canine sports? Maximus has exceeded our expectations in this area and has become one of only three Rottweilers to hold a title in Protection Sports Association competition. Max earned his Protection Dog Certificate on his first try with the highest obedience and protection scores of the trial. Early on, we decided that I would be a co-owner and train Max for Ringsport competition that I was enjoying with my wonderful girl, "Bree". Max has been a complete joy to work with and now a great companion for me in competition. Max and I will be competing in French Ring this summer and we expect him to wow the crowd with his powerful hits, his exuberant obedience, and his handsome looks. We will also be pursuing obedience titles in AKC, UKC, and ASCA this year.

With sincere thanks to Nancy,

She only knows one speed and that is HIGH. She has such a personality at times you wonder if she is all there!!!! But she is a great female, very loving and outgoing and just wants to be with me all the time. I want to Thank You for sending me such great females for the show ring. Hopefully you will be seeing more of their names on the show circuit!!!!!

TERRI VOLLERTSEN ~ VOM VOLLENHAUS ROTTWEILERS

We have known Nancy Hanson for over ten years, over that time we have received three of her dogs. Each dog was exactly as she described them and told us what they would be as they matured. They were easily socialized, very intelligent, and responsive to training. Many people have asked us if they were German imports and otherwise complimented them, some had been trainers or other Rottweilers owners. When needing their shots our Veterinarian would call in the rest of the clinic personnel to show them what true Rottweilers looked and acted like. When feeding them treats they sit and have a ‘soft mouth’. Many compliments have been made by strangers some had been breeders or show dog owners, many have asked if they were German imports. We did not show our dogs but due to the many random compliments we decided to show our latest dog, a male Jaco von-Z-Max. In seven shows the dog placed in six and taking the best of his class in several of them. He was awarded his AKC Good Citizen Test.

Nancy has made a point to place her dogs with people who would care for them and otherwise be compatible with the animal. She has followed up with owners of her dogs to make sure they were getting good care and were compatible with the dog. Nancy has the ethic to decline a sale if she thinks the person is incompatible with the dogs and will follow up with dogs she has sold. I have known her to buy back dogs from owners who mistreated them.

We can not say enough about her character, ethics, and integrity. We will make sure to get our next Rottweilers from her and look forward to doing business with her again.

Hi Nancy and Terry~
Here are some latest and greatest pictures of Jack (Yrjyuh). His training iscoming along very well; he's a smarty-pants! He loves going out to the ranchto romp around, loves car rides and loves TREATS!!! I'm lucky that he is so food motivated!!He has an amazing amount of energy but waits patiently for me to take a break with grad school and then we go outside and play and train. Bend has a lot of parks and trails for us to explore and he loves exploring. His new trick is climbing in bed with me or one of my kids! Sheesh!! I love him a lot~ he's the best! Thanks so much for allowing me this pleasure; Jack and I are the best of friends.
Take care, McKinsey Stargard
